National Memorial

The National Memorial of Bangladesh (জাতীয় স্মৃতিসৌধ, Jatiyo Sriti Shoudho) is a monumental symbol of the nation’s gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971. It is located in Savar, about 35 kilometers northwest of the capital city, Dhaka. The memorial serves as a solemn reminder of the struggle for independence and the victory over oppression. Architectural Design The memorial was designed by Syed Mainul Hossain, a renowned architect whose vision was to create a structure that would embody the spirit of freedom. The main feature is a series of seven triangular structures, gradually increasing in height, symbolizing the seven stages of the liberation movement. The tallest tower stands at 150 feet (46 meters), representing the resilience and aspirations of the Bangladeshi people.[
